Part One: Hope Hope wants us to know all about Ivy State College and Fear Hall, where she lives with her roommates Angel, Jasmine, and Eden. Duncan Fear donated the money to the college for it to build a dormitory in his honor. People say it's haunted, but Hope doesn't really believe the stories. While in bed one night, something wakes her up, and it turns out that it's her boyfriend Darryl. She mentions that he "saved" her back in high school from another guy but that it's a story for another time. Darryl starts talking about how he saw her out with this guy Brendan that night, but she tells him it was Angel. Angel then wakes up and says that she went out with him in one of Hope's outfits. It's time for the annual Unicorn Founding Fling, which is a big party they throw to celebrate the foundation of the club. Lila and the gals head to the mall to look for new outfits. Everyone else wants to check out the cheaper stores, but Lila remains firm on hitting the designer stores. She picks out a few sweaters and tries to pay, but the store declines her credit card. A few days later, she hears Mrs. Pervis firing their chauffeur Randall, explaining that it was a money thing. Since she now has to walk to school, Lila has a lot of time to think and she wonders if her dad is broke. Liz and Melissa McCormick started volunteering at the homeless shelter, and Lila offers to donate some clothes to the shelter.
